10/04 Thatcham Marsh LNR

Notes. No acrocephalus yet, a few Chiffchaffs about. Some but not all birds showing signs of breeding activity. Nice to ring a Treecreeper, for some a ringing or a year tick. Three male Blackbirds on the same net round, all probably in a territorial dispute.

Weather: Sunny, bright calm, cool early warm later
Nets: 212metres in 2 rides, 18Mx11 reed bed and a 12M scrub nets up from 08:30 to 11:00 hrs

Sightings: 39 Species The first singing Willow Warbler of the year for us here and copulating Kestrels probably the highlight of the morning sightings. And after, thanks to MD, a brisk walk across to the canal towpath gave us a year tick for Cattle Egret.
