02/09 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure (wk35)
Session: 02/09/2022 08:00 to 11:30hrs
Notes: Late start, had to wait for main gate to be unlocked, my key not working, apparently lock replaced a while ago. Nets up an hour late but we did the usual 2.5hrs with nets down at 11:00hrs. Mostly Blackcaps today, the total for week 35 (two visits) is 33, the best weekly total so far this year. Chiffchaff numbers are well down as are Willow Warbler, todays bird is latish and this species is passed peak passage, usually wk 32 for which we had the lowest capture (8) since 2013 when we began regular structured ringing at this site.

Weather: overcast occasional sunny periods, calm breezy later, warm.
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, 18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:30 to 11:00 hrs
Lures: Warblers, Misc Migrants, Grasshopper Warbler, Redstart, intermittently.

Recaptures: (none)

Sightings: Notable birds seen Herring Gull and Cormorant over-flying. Swallows flew west-ish in two groups.
