25/10 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure (wk43)
Session: 25/10/2022 07:45 to 10:45 hrs
Notes: Had interest from Redwings and Fieldfares in the audio. We did catch a Fieldfare, but it got out just as we approached it, as did a Reed Bunting. I wonder was the Chiffchaff a late summer or an early winter migrant. A typical late season total.

Weather: overcast with sunny periods, warm, calm.
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, 18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lures: BC-CC-FC-GC, Thrushes, Yellow-browed Warbler, Misc Winter Migrants, intermittently.

A normal latish Chiffchaff not like this day in 2021 when a Siberian Chiffchaff was ringed

Sightings: Redwings with a few Fieldfares arriving in small groups until around 10:00hrs . Two of the  Blackbirds came in from high up. The Mute Swan flew around for a while. Collared Doves are scarce out on the common, these came over from the south. A couple of small flocks of Chaffinch are probably from the north or continentals given that there are few if any locals.
