Male Whitethroat the only sylvia warbler to respond today
Notes: First visit of the year to the Western Enclosure. A family party of Coal
Tits is unusual out on the heath, probably crossing to get to the Pyle Hill
side woodland. The adult had been ringed as a 1st year male here. Today it was in
full moult and looked quite tatty also it had a brood patch which made me think
it to be female except the long wing length (61mm) suggested a male. It was
ringed as a male with a 62m wing length Oct 2022. Otherwise much as expected
except we hoped for a few more sylvia warbler.Recaptures: (01)
Coal Tit ringed: 04/10/2022
Sightings: Blackcap, Garden Warblers, Whitethroat etc very quiet and not responding to lures, just the one Whitethroat turned up in the net. No Butterflies seen surprisingly!
