Notes: Several groups of
Redwing flying over dropped mostly into the treeline to the south, some
dropped into the enclosure, we ring one. A steady flow of Chiffchaff for most
of the morning and yet another Firecrest. There were at least 4 Blackcaps about, one got out of the net before we could get to it and one jinked over the net as it was being taken down.

Weather: sunny
periods, a fog bank to the east moved in then retreated back east, cloudy
towards end of session, light breeze, cool.
Nets:
48metres 3
Rides, 18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs.
Lures: (BC-CC-WW-GW-WH-LW-GC-FC), (W-WC-SF-RZ-TP),
(FF-RE), (RT-YB-GC-FC) intermittently.
The first Redwing of the season a 1st winter.

Blue Tit ringed:

Sightings: There may have been some Song
Thrush in the Redwing flocks flying over since the two ringed dropped out
of the sky into the enclosure with other thrushes that avoided the nets. Might have been the odd Fieldfare but no definite sighting made. Some
medium sized finches flew over and about but not able to identify against the
light. A large dragonfly also flew through unidentified.
