Session:
Notes: More Redwing over south, some dropped into the enclosure, we ring two. A few more Blackcap, Chiffchaff and Goldcrest. Changed the audio
lures, reduced the warblers to Blackcap and Chiffchaff plus both crests, also
changed from "miscellaneous summer migrants” to Lesser Redpoll, Meadow Pipit and Brambling.
We thought a Brambling flew over but couldn’t be sure.
Present: JL,IW,IQ
Recaptures: (01)
Blue Tit ringed: 22/05/2023, as a pulli at box PK09 about a kilometre away to the southeast.
Sightings: Less on the move than yesterday except south flying Redwing flocks about the same that today included a few Fieldfare spotted in the treetops to the south. Interestingly no Blackbird or Song Thrush detected, also Dunnock not seen or heard out on the heath here so far this week. A pair of Sparrowhawks flew low over the heath mid-session and two Snipe flew west quite high up.
