17/10 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure (wk42)
Session: 17/10/2023 07:45 to 11:00hrs
Notes:  Unfortunately, one of my IPhone’s decided to spontaneously discharge its battery when I turned it on, and so was not able to play the usual crest audio. Didn’t affect the session too much though as we ringed nine Goldcrests and four Chiffchaff, an additional Goldcrest freed itself as I approached it in the net. Two more Redwings stayed in the nets long enough for us to extract and ring them. Might have ringed a few more if it had been less windy. Looking at the weather forecast it looks very unlikely that weather conditions for ringing will be suitable until Sunday 21st.
Present: JL,IQ
Weather: sunny, breeze varied from medium to strong, cool
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, 18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs.
Lures: (BC-CC-GC-FC)x2, (LR-MP-BL), (FF-RE),  intermittently.

Recaptures: (00)

Sightings: Probably missed a few birds and species including several overflying finches that didn’t call and were dark outlines against the bright blue sky. Did pick up the flock of 16 Teal accompanied by a lone Mallard though.
