Location: Greenham Common
Western Enclosure wk29
Session:
19/07/2024
07:30 to 11:00hrs
Notes: a least we ringed a few
Garden Warbler today and a Willow Warbler. Maybe they are moving late following
first breeding attempt failures caused by the wet weather and hopefully any
second attempts will be more successful. Looking at the table
below perhaps its just a poor year or our visits have only occasional pick up a
passage movement.
Present: JL,IW.
Weather: sunny
bright, calm, hot
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, up
from 08:00 to 10:30 hrs.
Lures audio: (Warbler), (Misc Migrants), (RT), (GH) intermittently.
Recaptures: (00) None
Sightings: Just one large flock of
Jackdaw out towards the west today. IW saw a Spotted Flycatcher before I
arrived just to the west of the enclosure moving west along a line of bushes; unfortunately,
the lures didn’t call it back towards us. The female Sparrowhawk soared quite
high up, harassed by unidentifiable small finch types and a Swallow. It made us
realise how big the female Goshawk was that we saw Tuesday. Otherwise, quiet
most birds staying out of the heat. The few insect that were about were fast,
moving supercharged by the hot weather.
