Location: Greenham Common
Western Enclosure wk31
Session:
30/07/2024
07:30 to 10:50hrs
Notes: Few migrants about,
Willow Warbler and Garden Warbler numbers are poor. They should be near their
peak migration week 29 to 32. Nice to re-trap a Dartford Warbler ringed here as
a juvenile 25/07/2023 presumed to be from a nest nearby. It was in full wing moult and looked a bit dishevelled for a normally smart looking bird.
Present: JL,IW.
Weather: bright sunny clear, calm,
hot.
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, up
from 08:00 to 10:30 hrs.
Lures audio: (Warbler), (Misc Migrants), (RT), (GH) intermittently.
Sightings: Swifts picked up in
the background as we followed the Swallow just above the tree
line going west.
Given the hot sunny weather Butterflies and Dragonflies on the wing were few.
