Today's Redwing an Adult (2nd+ Winter)

Notes: Managed to ring a Redwing today, the only one of the many that dropped into the enclosure that went into the nets. We don’t often see a lone Long-tailed Tit but the one ringed today seemed to be alone, it didn’t call when released like they usually do when others are about. Not sure if the Blackcap and Chiffchaff are summer migrants on their way out or wintering birds on their way in. The Blackcap still had some juvenile brown feathers on its head so probably was a late fledging individual.

Present: JL,IW,NC.

Weather: fog until Sunshine late in session, cold, calm.

Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, up from 08:00 to 10:30 hrs.

Lures audio: (BC-CC-FC-GC), (FF,RE), (YB-FC-GC) intermittently.

Blue Tit     ringed: 04/08/2023.

Sightings: more Redwing lured in today and our first Fieldfare of the Winter also reacted to the audio lure, otherwise not much moving.
