Notes: First
session this year at the enclosure, seven weeks later than usual due to
commitments elsewhere. A better session than we expected as there looked to be
very little bird activity in the area when we first arrived. Weeks 30 and 31
are peak migration here for Garden Warbler and Whitethroat, both species numbers
will tail off over the next two or three weeks, this also applies to Willow
Warbler. The Sparrowhawk was unexpected; we usually see them go into the area
but not this one. Fortunately, it stayed in the net until we arrived. I got two
or three stabs on fingers from is claws as it was extracted from the net.
Sightings: (IW’s list) It appeared to be very quiet apart from quite a lot of Red Kite and (late in session) Buzzard activity. Good views of a juvenile Dartford Warbler. A tricle of Swallows flying about but drifting south-ish. Much as expected otherwise.
