06/08 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common - Western Enclosure wk2025-32

Notes: Blackcaps on the move today and the first Firecrest of the season. Quite a busy morning ringing-wise for this site. Surprisingly few people about at this end of the common, more arriving at the control tower entrance as I left site.

Weather: bright sunny clear, calm, warm.

Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, up from 08:00 to 10:30 hrs.

Lures audio: (BC-CC-FC-GC-GW-WH-LW-WO),(YW-WC-W.-TP-RT-RZ),(GH),(RT) intermittently.

Sightings: Very quiet out on the heath, it is surprising what turns up in the net when apparently there is little activity in the area. First Grayling of the year for us. We also saw a medium size dragonfly – probably a Migrant Hawker but was not around long enough to be sure.
