 |
| Tree Pipit 1st summer |
Notes: A steady trickle of leaving
migrants through the site; perhaps one of
the last Willow Warbler and Whitethroat of the year. Three Goldcrest; they usually
start coming in Sep and an influx of Robins after a few weeks when they have
been scarce on the heath. The Tree Pipit probably the best bird of the day, we
captured two here on the 19/08/2013 and have only captured about 11 since the
group formed 50+ years ago. Linnet was also an unexpected capture.
July- August Summary: The general Impression is that we are not doing so well this year but that is not what the following chart shows.
Note: this is just for the Western Enclosure and I was ringing elsewhere on the common as well in 2012 and 2013; 2014 I was away from the 17th for the rest of August

Sightings 29 Species: The first
signs of autumn: Siskin seen to drop into the trees towards the bunkers mid-way
through the session, the first substantial flocks of the year. A few more
dunnock than of late on the heath, and a little more finch activity generally
but no sign of Blackbird, there are usually a couple about.
