Notes: Pleasant mornings ringing. Some warblers had high fat scores. Around 08:30hrs an influx of Blackcap and at about 10:30 an influx of Chiffchaff; one of the latter HJL765 not one of ours so ringed away from Newbury. Down to the last few Reed and Sedge Warbler, it will be interesting to see how many we capture next week.
Manage to access the reed bed ride despite the efforts of the contractor to block our way with pump plant.
I plucked up courage and retrieved the plank would you believe!
Sightings
41 Species: Didn’t
do a count. Green Sandpiper high over calling several times; probably the same
bird. Cetti’s Warbler relatively quiet. Chiffchaff and Blackcap moving
through the site. Egyptian Geese and Kingfisher went through early morning.
Swallow trickling through for most of the session, as they have since at least
Tuesday. Mid-way through a good numbers of House Martin feeding high up drifted
east. A Peregrine soared over the last few and then flew north east. Water
Rail quite noisy during the session!
