Notes: Every time I go out I
hope to capture something a little scarce and have a species in mind depending
on the time of year. It is very rewarding when that expectation is more than
met. The enclosure has turned up several scarce species this year. The
one missing that I usually capture being Firecrest until today when not just
the usual one captured, the only bird of the first round, but three by the end of
the session. Other than this and Goldcrest still a few Chiffchaff and Blackcap
going through, and three Blue Tit; some with traces of fat in their trachael pit. Disappointingly no reaction
to audio today from: Meadow Pipits, Siskin and Lesser Redpoll; their time of year is nearly upon us.
Sightings 30 Species: A steady
trickle of hirundine still moving southeasterly and few gulls heading westerly. In
addition to the Firecrest, of note: a latish Whitethroat, the first Mistle Thrush for a while, no Buzzard up in the
clear conditions and I have not seen a Red Kite at this end of the common for
a week or two.
