Notes: Started well with a
capture of 6: Goldcrest 4 and one each of Chiffchaff and Blackcap. A Stonechat,
a Blackcap, and another Goldcrest followed about 30 minutes later. At about
09:00hrs a large mixed warbler and tit flock came over from the woods on the
north side resulting in a capture of 26; ran out of bird bags (some of my bags
are missing, turn out your coat pockets!) The following net round produced 9
more, it then went quiet until the penultimate round when 8 more captured. The
last round before taking the nets down was a nil return; it was now quite
breezy. I thought Chiffchaff numbers might have begun drop but it looks like a
good few were moving through also a mini influx of Goldcrest today. Can’t get
any response from the Meadow Pipit!
Sightings 25 Species: Not much
variety today; no Great Tit seen or heard, one of the Dartford Warblers was
further down the track just passed the western pools at the end of dog alley (I
have better word to describe it!) where I have not seen one before. A Skylark
fly-over is probably the scarce bird of the day.
