24/08 Greenham Common Western Enclosure

Headlines: Little migration today, the Reed warbler is the fifth this Year, Blackcap should by now be exceeding Garden Warbler/Whitethroat and Chiffchaff exceeding Willow Warbler in numbers but so far Blackcap has been captured in very low numbers. Not much activity in the scrub except for the still active Stonechat and Dartford Warbler; not seen in the enclosure today though.
Weather: Bright, sunny, calm, breeze later and very warm.

Nets: 84metres in five rides of 18, 18, 12, 18(3shelf), 18(3shelf) up from 06:45 to 10:00hrs
Lure (audio): Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Firecrest, Goldcrest, Redstart, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler intermittently.
Capture (New/Recapture) 10(10/0): Blackbird 1/0, Blackcap 1/0, Blue Tit 2/0, Chiffchaff 2/0, Reed Warbler 1/0, Whitethroat 1/0, Willow Warbler 2/0
Recaptures: none
Age Range:  all 1st CY
Sightings 35 Species: Nice male Peregrine drifted over south quite high mid-morning. A steady stream of Black-headed Gull flew north, probably been feeding in the fields being harvested and going to Lower Farm GPs to drink and bath. Even more than usual Stonechat and Dartford Warbler about, they were working up and down the scrub on the heath.
