20/01 Snelsmore Feeder

Location: Snelsmore Common Feeder
Session: 20-Jan-2019 07:40 to 11:20hrs
Notes: It was near freezing when we arrived and the air was a penetrating cold  that became a bit uncomfortable towards the end of the session even when the sun occasionally shone. Some good pulli recaptures including a 2014 Great Tit from the Winterbourne Holt boxes; nearly six years old. A 2017 Marsh Tit is also good, wonder where it has been as it is not one of the regulars. A much better capture than last winter’s equivalent, but less variety.
Weather: calm, cold, overcast.
Present: JL, IW, DL
Nets: 12metres, a 6m net each side of feeder, up from 08:00 to11:00hrs
Lure (feeder): black sunflower, niger, fat balls, peanuts

Also, most of the recent recaptures were ringed 11/11/2018 (5) or 25/11/2018 (3) and not recaptured until this session; could there be a local movement?

Sightings 16 Species: Ian’s list, pretty thin, we were quite busy but there didn’t seem to be much about anyway. I missed the Raven calling again!
