Weather started ok but then became overcast and
blustery, wonder what happened to the bright sun and light breeze? Had an interesting
Chiffchaff that appeared to be in primary moult, but body feathers disseminated
with bare skin as juvenile and all primaries new except for three inners that were just out of pin or not present.
A change of hand found the other wing primaries all present and not in moult. Wonder what
happened for the bird to lose the inner primaries on one wing? Also had a Willow Warbler starting its moult and another ending its moult. The finches came to feed on
flower seeds growing in the enclosure out of the reach of cattle, horses and rabbits. Last
year's visit had more variety and we have yet to see a decent tit flock on the
common this year let alone catch one.
