15/07 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure Week 28
Session: 15/07/2021, 07:25 to 11:00 hrs
Notes: Weather started ok but then became overcast and blustery, wonder what happened to the bright sun and light breeze? Had an interesting Chiffchaff that appeared to be in primary moult, but body feathers disseminated with bare skin as juvenile and all primaries new except for three inners that were just out of pin or not present. A change of hand found the other wing primaries all present and not in moult. Wonder what happened for the bird to lose the inner primaries on one wing? Also had a Willow Warbler starting its moult and another ending its moult. The finches came to feed on flower seeds growing  in the enclosure out of the reach of cattle, horses and rabbits. Last year's visit had more variety and we have yet to see a decent tit flock on the common this year let alone catch one.

The photo doesn't show how yellow the bird looked compared above
