19/12 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Feeder
Session: 19/12/2021 07:30 to 11:30hrs
Notes: A steady capture spread over most of the session. Nice to ring a Bullfinch, not such a frequent encounter these days. The Blackbird ringed in Oct 2017 at the Western Enclosure may have been a migrant from Northern Europe. A Great Tit and a Blue Tit both ringed Feb 2019 arrived in the same flock of tits. We decided to end the session when it got unpleasantly cold.

Weather: foggy, damp, calm, cool early much colder when the fog lifted.
Nets: 36metres 3 12M Nets in scrub and 2 rides of 6M nets one each side of feeder up from 08:00 to 10:40hrs
Lures: Feeder: Niger, Black Sunflower, Peanut

Sightings: Ian’s list. A low count due mainly to the fog. The Med Gull flew over in the murk,
its wings including tips were white underneath. An adult bird in winter plumage.
