21/02 Bagnor Feeder

Location: Bagnor Feeder Winter CES 2022/23.08
Session: 21/02/2023 07:40 to 11:40hrs
Notes: A lot less busy than the last visit here and just Blue and Great Tits plus a single Coal Tit. Quite slow early with the last two round making up the  bulk of today’s total. No sign of the Goldfinches at the feeder since last autumn. A nearly 7 year old Great Tit ringed at Snelsmore nest box CP27 on the  north side of the common is a nice re-trap.

Weather: overcast frequently spotting with rain, calm, cool getting colder as the session progressed.
Nets: 12M, 2 rides 6M each side of feeder up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lures: Feeders – Peanuts, Black Sunflower Seed, Niger, Fat Balls.

Sightings: Think it is the first time ever I’ve seen Stonechat at Bagnor (IW seen them before but probably in the 1960/70s). Spotted by the shepherd when he stopped for a chat. They were feeding over the long grass area perching on top of the dock stems . Song and Mistle Thrushes singing also one or two Great Tit.
