25/07 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure (wk30)
Session: 25/07/2023 07:40 to 10:55hrs
Junvenile Dartford Warbler
Notes:  A good variety today including for this year so far more than the odd Blue Tit. Just a single Willow Warbler, they should be going through in good numbers now. The same applies to Whitethroat whose numbers are also down for the time of year. Our friend from the Gower got a couple of firsts including the one above.
Present: JL,IW,KMB
Weather: cloudy with sunny periods, very light breeze, warm
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, 18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lures: Warblers, Misc Migrants, GH, RT intermittently

Recaptures: (00) none

Sightings: Quiet today and no Swift detected. The only fly-over seen  was a Black-headed Gull. A probable Kestrel flew south-ish but was to far away to be sure when we spotted it. Not many insect, thought there might be a few more as the weather was a bit warmer. There were a couple of hawker dragonflies briefly but unable to see well enough to be certain of ID. The Emperor Dragonfly was in a net so we got a good look before it was relaeased.
