to 11:00hrs Notes: The 2023 season here appears to be a very good year so far. Another
Firecrest and the fifth Reed Warbler today, also four Long-tailed Tits, these
have been a bit scarce compared to previous years on the common. A good number of Blackcap and Chiffchaff again considering we start one hour plus after dawn (always 07:30hrs) using just three nets up for 2.5
hours.
Present: JL,IW.
Weather: some cloud and high-level mist early then bright
and sunny, calm, hot and humid.
Nets:48metres 3 Rides,
18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lures:
(BC-CC-WW-GW-WH-LW-GC-FC),
(W-WC-SF-RZ-TP-WY), (GH-RW-SW-RB-AW), (RT-YB)
intermittently.
Juvenile Goldcrest and Firecrest (male-some orange crest feathers just visible)

Sightings (30): My first, and probably last, Hobby of the year flew over the treetops north. A probable Osprey or maybe a Marsh Harrier flew south-southwest over us, but was too far away to be sure by the time we spotted it in the background when looking at the only Red Kite seen while we were there.
