13/09 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common - Western Enclosure (wk37)
Session: 13/09/2023 07:45 to 11:00hrs
Notes: Fewer birds about today, mostly Blackcaps with a few Chiffchaffs and two Great Tits, also a latish Willow Warbler. Two of the Blackcaps carried a lot of fat, one weighed 23.7grms the other 22.1, normal weight is 15 to 17grms. These two were probably readying to fly over to France in the next few days. Many of the Blackcaps of the last few visits had some subcutaneous fat as did the Chiffchaffs and the Willow Warbler. Others had no fat probably having burnt it off flying down from the north.
