04/02 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Feeder visit 07 of 10
Session: 04-Feb-2018 07:40 to 11:20hrs
Headlines: It seems that since the turn of the year avian feeder attendance has tailed off leaving mostly local birds that have become a bit net shy. The exception to this seems to be the Bagnor Feeder where the number of particularly Blue Tit  is better than Greenham; it will be interesting how we do for this visit at the Snelsmore Feeder The capture makeup is much the same as last year’s visit 07, except a better variety of species. Unfortunately no winter finches have arrived and/or found the feeders; these account for the high number captured in previous winter periods.
Weather: dull, cold, moderate breeze, sometimes gusty.
Present: JL, GB, IW, VG, JHW, DL, JPM, SC (cake-man)
Nets: 88metres, 10m, 12, 12m around feeders, 12m, 12m, 12m in west scrub and 18M  scrub next to cattle pen up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure   (feeder): niger, niger, black sunflower, peanut, black sunflower
(audio): Redwing (cattle pen net)
