19/02 Bagnor Feeder

Location: Bagnor Feeder
Session: 19-Fb-2019 07:45 to 11:20hrs
Notes: A different session to the one expected today. Due to the mild spring like weather most tits except the locals remained in the woods at least a kilometre away. There were several Blue Tits feeding iin the tops of the scrub, but we only captured one on the round before we took the nets down. Great Tit numbers were a little better and both the pulli came from the Snelsmore Common car park boxes. A new Marsh Tit was unexpected as until now a ringed pair have been seen around the feeder this winter; not heard one sing for a while so when it started had to think for moment or two; most be trying to set up a territory. I often stay and watch the feeder  when I replenish and knew that a couple of Goldfinch and a Siskin had been visiting this week. Four Goldfinches was good, but eight Siskin was a bonus and unexpected. Last winter’s matching visit has a different profile more in line with what we expected this morning.
Weather: ground frost early bright, sunny, mild, calm
Present: JL, IW
