Session:
Notes: First chance to get out for a while for various reasons. Not a bad capture for a lure-less session and some nice species. The very juvenile Lesser Whitethroat is probably proof
that the singing male that arrived late May in the scrub to the south bred. The
two Garden Warblers were probably a local pair, the male as well as having
a CP had a smaller brood patch than the female; most male passerines don’t
have a brood patch. Also notable were the two juvenile Stonechats that we
captured, part of a family party that went through the enclosure.
Weather: fine, sunny, warm,
breezy
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 48metres in three
rides up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lure ( ): none

Juvenile Lesser Whitethroat
One of todays adult Garden Warbler
Sightings 35 Species: For the
first time this year no Willow Warbler detected and just the one House Martin
over west. Heard the Swift while putting up the nets but could not see them;
think they were high up. The female Sparrowhawk was carrying what look like a partly
eaten Blackbird and explains why they were making a fuss in the wood earlier.
