03/07 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure
Session: 03-Jul-2019 07:10 to 11:00hrs
Notes: Mostly migrant species today, unlike yesterday. It is surprising how at this site the species differs from day to day. Yesterday we detected no Willow Warblers and no Chiffchaffs were moving about the site. Today the first capture was a juvenile Willow Warbler and late morning a group of Chiffchaff appeared. Three Garden Warblers today included an adult ringed as a juvenile a year and two days ago. Having not been able to get over to the enclosure for the past week or so and check for breeding nearby I have yet to use audio lures for fear of disturbing breeding territories. If I had used lures, I think I may have pulled in a few more that today’s capture of 10. Nice ringing morning but a bit slow at times.
Weather: Clear sky sunny early cloudy later, light breeze, warm
