Session: 11-Aug-2019 07:00 to
10:50hrs
Notes: As it was a non-CES
week we decided to tidy up some of the scrub rides, this took about 40 minutes.
At 08:00 we erected a couple of nets and ran some audio lures, result a
good capture of species for this site in recent times. The first full round
after nets up produced mostly Blackcaps with some acrocephalus, Chiffchaffs, a
Dunnock and a Bullfinch. The next round produced a similar number of birds and the following round
just prior to the intended nets down time produced five birds. After processing
these we expected to return and find the nets empty, except the second of the
two nets was full of birds including a few tits. It was a good session, made
more enjoyable as we were joined by Jone from the Nature Discovery Centre and
were able demonstrate our knowledge and test her ID skills and who provided coffee
and muffins, nice
Weather:
Present: JL, IW, DL, JHW, JA
Nets: 36m in 1ride (1A) up
from 08:00 to 010:30hrs
Lure (audio): misc. migrants,
warblers intermittently
