03/10 Greenham Common

Notes: Unlike yesterday, we manage to capture two of the Meadow Pipits today; I tried a different song sequence. Still a few Chiffchaff going through, most had normal plumage colour, but one had cold looking colour tones; we couldn’t make it into anything else though. Over the next couple of weeks we should get crests going through, hope the weather forecast improves so we can check.
Weather: overcast, cool, calm.

Nets: 48metres in three rides of 18m, 18m, 12m up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lure (audio): autumn, warblers, redstart, yellow-browed warbler, meadow pipit intermittently

Recaptures: none

Sightings 31 Species: Ian’s list, the first Redwings this autumn, 28 dropped into the tall trees to the south and then flew north west; the others were singles flying about. An influx of Greenfinch in one double figure flock out in the scrub and just one Stonechat shows how things can change day to day.
