03/12 Bagnor Feeder

Location: Bagnor Feeder
Session: 03-dec-2019 07:45 to 11:50hrs
Notes:  Numbers are down in the previous two visits. The first Siskin of the winter, the first of many, hopefully. This was the only finch ringed, a mark contrast to last year’s matching visit, when 12 of three finch species were ringed. Two other significant differences: firstly the total number of Blue Tits including that re-traps out number new birds, secondly the number of Great Tits, just one for last year’s matching visit.
The Coal Tit controlled (recaptured) at the Greenham Feeder Sunday 1st Dec had been ringed at Swindon STW on the 17/12/2017; a good recovery, Coal Tits don’t normally travel far from their natal area.
Weather: cloudy, some sunny periods, cool, calm.
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 12metres in two nets one each side of feeders up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure (Feeder): Peanut, Black Sunflower, Niger, Fat Balls
