22/12 Snelsmore Feeder

Location: Snelsmore Common Feeder
Session: 22-Dec-2019 07:45 to 11:15hrs
Notes: A quite busy session that slowed towards the end. As for most of the bigger totals this winter Blue Tit numbers comprise over 50% of species. It is noticeable that there are fewer “other” species around the feeders such as Robins, Dunnocks, Chaffinches etc so far this winter. We finished with a nice warming cup of coffee in the Snug, thanks Duncan.
Weather: cloudy, some sunny periods, cold, light breeze.
Present: JL, IW, DL,RJC
Nets: 12metres in 2 nets one 6M each side of feeders up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure (Feeder):Fat Balls, Black Sunflower, Niger, Peanut

Sightings 25 Species: Ian’s list, the feral pigeons in a tight flock were probably racing, the Raven was quite vocal for a while out of sight at the back of the fir trees. Since the demise of the local pig units, large gulls are less frequent than a few years ago and few winter thrushes and no winter finches about.
