05/01 Snelsmore Common

Location: Snelsmore Common Feeder
Session: 05-Jan-2020 07:45 to 11:15hrs
Notes: The first session of the New year was slower than expected. The birds seemed to trickle in rather than come in large groups. Many were feeding high in the trees. Quite early in the session a male Sparrowhawk hit the net but bounced out, collapsing the telescopic poles. A feature of this winter that has become apparent is the lack of “other” species at the feeder. The total was less than last winter matching equivalent and fewer species.
Weather: overcast, cold, calm.
Present: JL, IW, DL,RJC,RGS
Nets: 12metres in 2 nets one 6M each side of feeders up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure (Feeder):Fat Balls, Black Sunflower, Niger, Peanut
