12/07 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure

Session: 12-JuL-2020, 07:20 to 10:15hrs

Notes: I try to avoid weekends on the common, many more and different people usually. As the weather forecast for this Sunday was the best ringing-wise for some time and for the foreseeable future I decided to make an exception. We had the best total so far this season. Bearing in mind that we have ringed just the odd Blackcap so far, the six captured today is maybe a sign of a small movement through the common. Until I drove back to the gate there were only a few people about; as I headed towards the gate though it seems the masses were just arriving.

Present: JL,IW

Weather: blue skies with some clouds, very warm, calm.

Nets: 48metres in 3 net rides, two 18M and one 12M net up from 07:30 to 10:00hrs

Lure (Audio): Warbler, Misc Migrants, Redstart intermittently.

Recaptures (1): Chiffchaff ringed 15/06/2020

Sightings 29 Species: Little flying about today, the only usual species was the Collared Dove. They rarely venture out on to the common, they breed somewhere near the golf club though.
