14/07 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure

Session: 14-Jul-2020, 07:30 to 10:55hrs

Notes: Good ringing conditions today but capture disappointing. Should be catching more Willow Warblers. Although it is the best capture total so far this is due to the seven Goldfinch. We captured over half of the flock that built up as the session progressed. They were feeding on grass seed in the enclosure. Otherwise just a trickle of migrants into the nets through the morning.

Present: JL,IW

Weather: overcast, warm, calm.

Nets: 48metres in 3 net rides, two 18M and one 12M net up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs

Lure (Audio): Warbler, Misc Migrants, Redstart intermittently.

 Recaptures (0): None

Sightings 27 Species: A male Peregrine flew over towards Newbury when I put the nets up. The was a big flock of Starling; no pink ones though.
