05/10 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure Week 41
Session: 05-Oct-2020, 07:40 to 11:20hrs
Notes: A few more Chiffchaffs, Goldcrests and four Goldfinches from a flock of about 29 that landed in the enclosure. Seem to be missing a some of the birds that drop in. Think the scrub might be a little higher than in the past. Today Redwings, Redpoll and Meadow Pipits dropped in but not into the nets.

Weather: Overcast and cool early clearing to sunny period and warmer later, light breeze for most of the session getting stronger towards the end.
Nets: 48metres in 3 net rides, two 18M and a 12M net up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure (Audio):
Warblers, Misc Migrants, Autumn, Thrushes, SK/LR, Yellow-browed Warbler intermittently.


Recaptures: (none)
Sightings 36 Species: Mostly House Martins flying about and drifting South in groups for much of the morning, the few swallows went over early. The flock of Goldfinches was feeding on grass seed around and in the enclosure with a few Meadow Pipits. Skylarks over south high up mostly singletons. Not much thrush activity today and no migrant sylvia warblers detected.
