Common Western Enclosure Week 42
Session:13-Oct-2020, 07:45 to
10:45hrs
Notes: Much quieter than yesterday with a few winter thrushes moving through
and flying about. We manage to ring two more Redwings and a substantial flock
of Fieldfare dropped in but none were captured. Just a single Chiffchaff and
three Blackcaps that may be late summer or early winter migrants. We don’t seem to
have had the fall of Goldcrest yet that we normally get this time of year yet and
still hoping for a Yellow-browed.
Session:
This weeks ringing will be disrupted by various appointments that must be taken when offered otherwise you don't get a second chance, hence todays early finish and this late posting.
Present: JL,IW
Weather: Cloudy with sunny periods, cool and calm, occasionally
a few spots of rain, breezy later.
Nets: 48metres in 3 net
rides, two 18M and a 12M net up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lure (Audio): BC-CC-FC-CC, Autumn, Thrushes, SK-LR, Yellow-browed Warbler intermittently.
Present: JL,IW
Recaptures: (none)
Sightings 35 Species: A smaller movement of winter thrushes today including a couple lower middle double figure flocks of Fieldfare. There were two quite big flocks of Siskin through west late in the session. A Marsh Tit out on the heath is unusual and a “refugee” Pheasant has setup home in the nearby woodland, been there for about a week or so.
