Snelsmore Common Feeder

Location: Snelsmore Common Feeder
Session: 23-03-2021, 07:30 to 10:245hrs
Notes: I have put a net up in the garden three times this month and not ringed a single bird. There are a few birds coming to my feeders including occasional Siskins but no regulars this year. In the past my winter totals have been up to 357; this winter it will be about 17. So, following the recent slight relaxation in lockdown allowing meeting one other person outside I arranged with Ian that we would ring the Snelsmore feeder. Unfortunately, at the last minute Ian was not able to come. The number of birds coming to the feeder is diminishing by the day as birds switch to holding territory, so a lone session was viable. The first bird, a blue tit went into the net spiralled and re-tangled in the net pocket, so I quickly got up to speed on extraction after a couple of months break.
Present: JL
Weather: overcast. Calm cold, breezy later.
Nets: 12metres in 6m nets each side of feeder, up from 08:00 to 11:00hrs
Lure (feeders): fat balls, black sunflower, peanuts, niger
