02/11 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure Week 44
Session: 02/11/2021, 07:40 to 10:45hrs
Notes:  No Chiffchaffs or Goldcrests today. Blue Tits, a Blackcap and the groups ninth Firecrest of the autumn. Not bad for the penultimate week of intensive ringing here.
First year male Firecrest, the fifth bird here and the ninth ringed by the group this autumn
Present: JL,IW,
Weather: Bright sunny clear, calm, cold
Nets: 48metres in 3 rides of 18M, 18M, 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lures Audio:  BC-CC-FC-GC, Yellow-browed Warbler, BR-LR-SK, FF-RE

Recaptures:(none)

Sightings: Another movement off Woodpigeons going south made up mostly of two 50+ flocks. Had some good views of the Dartford Warblers, one a male was ringed. A few “local” Redwings about, some feeding on haw berries presumably softened by the frost.  Fewer Blackbirds detected today, and  one  flock of 15+ Lesser Black-backed Gulls south plus some singletons. The Common Darter is late to be on the wing, surprising what the sun brings out.
