One of the first Reed Warblers of the year |
Notes: An unpromising
weather forecast, not to bad in the end it was cold though! A reasonable capture of Sedge Warbler
and the first Reed Warbler captures of the year. " Intruders" had ripped up the plank we added to the jetty, to cover rotting timbers. They used it to bridge the gap and gained access to the reed bed ride. Fortunately no other damage done.
Sightings 36 Species: Little movement over, expected to see hirundine etc flying over but could only manage a few black-headed gulls, 3 cuckoos is good for here these days; about 10 years ago 8 was a low count. On the way out a call-in at the Nature Discovery Centre Lake included seeing a couple of swifts, about 10 swallows and a few house martins. Earlier snipe, sand martin and common tern had been seen.
