Notes: The first GMT session of the autumn usually means an early start. We found that the bridge jetties vandalised, so we gathered up the bits fishing them out of the stream, reinstated the rope post and re-fixed the plank that had been ripped off and thrown in the sluice. This took about half an hour and delayed erecting nets. It was quiet on the reed bed with one re-captured Wren from the reed bed and a Chaffinch from the scrub; a scarce species here these days. Next round produced a Robin and a Chiffchaff from the scrub and a Cetti’s Warbler, Robin and a Wren from the reed bed. A single Goldcrest from the scrub was all that the next round produced. The reed bed produced another Wren and Cetti’s Warbler and two new Goldcrest about 30 minutes later. It began to pick up after this with a Wren, Long-tailed Tit, Dunnock, Cetti’s Warbler, three Goldcrest and three Reed Bunting from the reed bed. We decided to take the nets down at 10:00 and finished with another Goldcrest and two Reed Buntings from the reed bed. The scrub however produced seven Goldcrests and three Blue Tits, quite an influx since it had been quiet for much of the morning.

Sightings 32 Species: Very little visual activity or movement apart from a Green Sandpiper over when erecting the nets and a tit flock that move through west and back  mid- morning; no much sign of the number of Goldcrest that were present!
