11/03 Sand Martin Bank Refurbishment

Started refurbishing the Sand Martin bank at Woodspeen this morning. Cleaned out and refilled about 75% of the pipes with sand. Thanks to John Claridge for making a modified long handled trowel and clearing out the old sand mostly before we got there. Filling the holes was fairly straightforward if a little precarious; nearly fell in a couple of times, the bank collapsed under John before we got there. Thanks to Ian for helping fill the holes. Intend to finish next week hopefully before the sand martins return, it might be a close call though?
