22/07 Greenham Common Western Enclosure

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure
Session: 22-Jun-2016 06:15 to 10:45hrs
Headlines: As I entered the common near the pool by the gate were five Lapwings, two adults and three juveniles (two ringed). As I drove by the adults flew and then for a short distance so did the juveniles. So it looks like the east gravel 616 brood fledged. Unlike last Mondays visit there was much less evidence of movement this morning. The large flock of finches present then had moved on leaving a flock of Goldfinch and a few Greenfinches some of which were captured. The only warbler captured in reasonable numbers was Chiffchaff, otherwise a few of the expected warbler species and another Reed Warbler made up most of the rest. Perhaps the Bullfinch is also of note as they are a scarce capture these days. A steady capture made for a nice session; a bit hot towards the end though.
Weather: Bright, sunny, warm, calm
Present: JL, IW
Nets: 48metres in three rides of 18m, 18m and 12m up from 06:45 to 10:39hrs
