14/09 Greenham Common Western Enclosure

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure
Session: 14-Sep-2016 07:15 to 10:40hrs
Headlines: Similar to yesterday. Just when I thought I might not see another Willow Warbler this year one turns up in the first net round. A few more Blackcaps this time, would be nice to have few more. Coal Tit out on the heath is not unusual; we capture one or two here each year. We tried to lure the Long-tailed Tit flock that was calling in the woods but no response. Dropped my bottom lens protector sometime during the session, not there half an hour later when I went back to look for it. I had to remember the lock combination to get off the common as the catch had been changed between going on and coming off this morning.
Weather: Sunny and clear, warm, light breeze
Present: JL, GB, RGS
Nets: 48metres in three rides of 18M, 18M, 12M up from 07:30 to 10:15hrs
Lure (audio): Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Firecrest, Goldcrest, Willow Warbler, Reed Bunting, Long-tailed Tit
Capture (New/Recapture) 22 (21/1): Blackcap 6/0, Chiffchaff 12/0, Coal Tit 1/0, Goldcrest 1/1, Willow Warbler 1/0
Recaptures: 1 a Goldcrest ringed 27days ago
Age Range: all 1st CY

Sightings 22 Species: Not a full list. After few days not being detected Dartford Warblers were calling this morning. Notable are, at last, some Meadow Pipits over-flying and after being very noisy yesterday no sign of Green Woodpecker.
