17/11 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure Week 46
Session: 17/11/2021, 07:40 to 10:45hrs
Notes:  A bit quiet  with little activity except for a Woodpigeon movement South. Nice to have a Chiffchaff; a late summer migrant or possibly a wintering bird. Some of the winter thrushes flew into the enclosure in response to the audio; no luck today though.
Present: JL,IW
Weather: Bright, sunny, cold, calm early, light westerly breeze later
Nets: 48metres in 3 rides of 18M, 18M, 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lures Audio:  BC-CC-FC-GC, Yellow-browed Warbler, BR-LR-SK, FF-RE

Recaptures:(01)

Long-tailed Tit        ringed 04/10/2021

Sightings: Apart from one or two double figure Woodpigeon flocks south early, little movement about the heath. Winter thrush numbers well down and just a single Lesser Redpoll flying about, didn’t even see a Great Tit. What looked to be a Common Darter was flying around when we took the nets down, and there are still a few flies active.
