29/05 Thatcham Marsh LNR

Location: Thatcham Marsh LNR CES 4 of 12
Session: 29/05/2022 06:00 to 11:00hrs
Present:IW,DL,JHW,IQ,JL,NC
Weather: cloudy, cool, calm early, light breeze later.
Nets: 208metres in 2 rides, 18Mx11 reed bed ride and 10M scrub ride up from 06:30 to 10:30 hrs
Lures: None
Notes: It started raining as I left home stopping just after I got to site. The 2017 Blue Tit (6Years) was ringed as a juvenile and had been re-trapped in 2017 and 2019 as well as today. Otherwise, it was relatively quiet. Acrocephalus numbers on site are still quite low but there is still a week or two left for late returning Reed Warblers to arrive as in past years. Some more juveniles, three Blue Tits and an apparently unaccompanied Long-tailed Tit; unusual for the latter to be on its own. A slightly better capture than last year’s matching visit.
