04/11 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure (wk44)
Session: 04/11/2022 07:45 to 11:00 hrs
Notes: A bright sunny day, different to the last day or so, colder though. We had a good start when two Redwings went in the nets just after we had finished putting the nets up; managed to get to them before they could get free. After, we had a steady stream of birds through the session including Goldcrests and tits but also our fifth Firecrest of the year. Also sunning itself, a Common Darter, can’t remember seeing one or any Odonata this late in the year, shows how mild the weather has been. The forecast for tomorrow onwards is back to wet and windy, unfortunately. Some not very good photos of some of todays interesting species below, had a bit of shadow trouble with the phone camera. Its difficult holding the bird in your left hand and the phone in the other, checking the focus, while pressing the touch screen to fire the camera, especially when you are left handed and phone covers are designed for right handed people.
Present: JL,IW
Weather: sunny, clear, light breeze early increasing to a stronger breeze later, cool.
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, 18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
