Notes: Two re-traps, both Chiffchaff, one an adult that was ringed here at the
Western Enclosure as a juvenile the 13/09/2021. Otherwise simlar to other recent session here. We’ve
ringed 89 birds this week. It looked very quiet when we were erecting the
nets. It is surprising what is called in by the audio from the surrounding apparently birdless heathland. From the surrounding heathland and scrub we think we call in from up to about 500M radius, around the centre of the enclosure.
Nets:
Recaptures: (02)
Chiffchaff ringed: 13/09/2021, 18/07/2023
Sightings: A flock of five Swift over high up, a fly-over Woodlark, the first detected here for a while and the Starling flocks are getting bigger; a flock of 80+ was feeding on the grassland to the east. Might have had a very busy morning had they landed in the enclosure!
