04/08 Greenham Common

Location: Greenham Common Western Enclosure (wk31)
Session: 04/08/2023 07:45 to 10:55hrs
Juvenile Lesser Whitethroat, they always seem to want to look away
Notes: Breezy again, our 10th Lesser Whitethroat of the season and one or two of the warblers were carrying extra fat including the Whitethroat ringed Tuesday 1st Aug whose fat score then was B0 (no fat) but today was B2 (trachea about 1/3rd filled with fat); weight had increased from 14.8 to 15.8grams.

Weather: overcast, occasional blue patches of sky, warm, breezy
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides, 18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lures: (BC-CC-WW-GW-WH-LW-GC-FC), (W-WC-SF-RZ-TP), (RT-DW-SC), RT intermittently.

Whitethroat               ringed 01/08/2023

Sightings: Very few Jackdaw flying out from the bunkers, the main flock seems to have moved elsewhere. Swallow over and heading west in ones and twos. No Swift detected we spent a while scanning the cloudy sky for them.
