Location:
Greenham Common Western Enclosure (wk35)
Session: 30/08/2023 07:30
to 10:50hrs
Yesterday's 1st year male Redstart has almost completed juvenile moult. and
today's male Redstart is partway through juvenile moult - note faint eye strip etc.
Notes: Yet another Redstart and Firecrest, both males, made a fledging C ringer
very happy. There seems to be several Redstarts around the common this week; at
least five on Monday. More Chiffchaff and Blackcap and three more Willow
Warblers made for a steady 2.5hrs ringing.
Present: JL,RAD,IW.
Weather:
cloudy with sunny periods, light breeze, cool
Nets: 48metres 3 Rides,
18M, 18M and 12M up from 08:00 to 10:30hrs
Lures:
(BC-CC-WW-GW-WH-LW-GC-FC),(W-WC-SF-RZ-TP),(GH-RW-SW-RB-AW),(RT-YB-GC-FC) intermittently.Recaptures: (00)
Sightings: Not much visual movement around/over the heath at all today. No sign of the regular Starling or Goldfinch gatherings or the usual Jackdaw traffic northwest out from the bunkers. A fast
flying dragonfly was probably a migrant hawker from size etc but not sure.
